Separation, Family, Relationships

Divorce and relationship breakdown causes enormous stress and uncertainty.  It is characterised by emotional and financial upheaval that can make the future seem a dark and unfriendly place.

Our family law team is very skilled in listening, advising and supporting you in this difficult time, addressing the legal issues to lighten your load and help put you back in control.

We offer guidance to potentially complex issues in relation to children and financial matters and work with you on solving other legal problems that can arise on separation for example in relation to employment, family violence, loans, mortgages, wills, superannuation, and commercial matters. Our family law team collaborates with our in-house lawyers in our other practice groups to offer you a holistic service.

Our team of solicitors is headed by Practice Group Leader Catherine Williams and Ashleigh John, both of whom are Accredited Specialists in Family Law and well recognised for their expertise- Catherine has been awarded Doyle’s Family Law Rising Star in 2022 and 2023 and Ashleigh has ranked in the Doyle’s Guide to Leading Family Lawyers Rankings in Newcastle & Central Coast every year since 2019.

Our Senior Associate Rose Laffan is also a Nationally Accredited Mediator and registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. She has a Masters in Applied Family Law and lectures in Family Law Practice at the University of Newcastle. Xander Gee is the newest lawyer to join our team and has quickly developed a reputation with his clients for giving them thorough and practical legal advice.

The team’s assistants Angela Newsome, Jenny Gilmour, Sally-Anne Todkill and Ashtyn Laycock are caring and empathetic and undergo regular specialist training to provide a premium service to you.
