Professional indemnity and General Insurance Claims

Since the late 1970’s, Mullane & Lindsay has acted for a wide range of general and indemnity insurers including QBE, MLC, Royal, CIC/HIH, ACE and others. We are familiar with the service standards and reporting requirements of insurers and have a demonstrated capacity to meet those requirements. We continue to manage claims against, and to provide policy and strategy advice to, general and liability insurers.

We have developed a special expertise in professional indemnity litigation, and our clients include LawCover Insurance Pty Limited. We have represented a broad range of professionals including solicitors, insurance brokers, accountants, property valuers and estate agents in professional indemnity claims. We are the only NSW law firm located outside Sydney on the claims handling panel of LawCover Insurance Pty Limited.

Income Protection and TPI Claims

We have acted in many claims on income protection and Disability policies. We have assisted clients in direct negotiations with insurers and their lawyers; internal dispute resolution processes, applications to the Insurance Ombudsman; and formal Court proceedings arising from disputed claims.

Personal Injury Claims

These include motor accident injuries, work accidents, and public liability or occupier liability claims. Mullane & Lindsay has a long history of acting and advising in personal injury matters.

Changes to NSW law in 2003 prohibit the advertising of legal services for people who have suffered personal injury, except to existing clients. The only matter that we are permitted to show on our website is that Tony Cavanagh is an accredited specialist in personal injury law. A basic requirements for accreditation as a specialist is that the solicitor must have worked in the area for at least three years, and that each year, at least 25% of their total workload is conducted in that area of law. The solicitor also has to pass a detailed oral and written examination to obtain accreditation. Tony has been an accredited specialist in personal injury law since 1994.
